Think on these things

There is a fork in the road ahead, should i go to the right or to the left ? ? ?

Often times life changing decisions don't come easy but when the time comes you find that these kind of choices can not be avoided. The only thing we can do is strive to make the wise choice. ( Luke 13:24 )

" And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve;. . . " ( Joshua 24:15 )

Unfortunately, so many choose foolishly to their own destruction. " Remember Lot's wife." ( Luke 17:32 - Genesis 19:26 )

Some try to make excuses and attempt to avoid the difficult choices in life . ( Luke 14:15-24 )

Esau had a choice to make, he choose foolishly and it cost him. ( Genesis 25:29-33 )

The wise choice is not always the pleasant or even the easy choice, it is not always the choice our lazy flesh wants, it isn't always the choice our so called friends would have us pick. But the wise choice always pays out in the end. ( Luke 18:29-30 - Mark 10:29-30 )

Choose wisely.

Either – Or

From Matthew 13:

If you read the parable below you will read about sowing seed in differing types of soils and what it results in. In other words, it is about about presenting the gospel and how variious persons respond. This brings us to the main focus of this parable and that is the soils and how they respond to the seed. The seed is the same for each soil, but the soil types are different.

What is the seed that is sown in the soils? Look at verse 19, "When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side." The seed is preaching of the Word of the Kingdom, in short - the Gospel. Who is a sower? , wasn't he? You are, so am I if you belong to Christ, if you bear His name and He's inviting people to come into that Kingdom through us.

When anyone in verse 19 hears the good news and does not get it or comprehend it that is the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is someone on whom seed was sown by the wayside. have you ever seen a hard-hearted person, a stiff-necked person resist the gospel ?

In the second kind of soil in verses 20 and 21 you will find it to be rocky soil, the seed was sown on the stony places, it's someone who hears the Word and immediately receives it with joy, but is only temporary, short lived . When trials, testings, affliction or persecution come because of the Word they immediately fall away. Many people in thes last days have shallow faith and lack long term endurance.

Remember the parable in Luke 14, Jesus talked about the great banquite of the King and everything was ready and the servents invited people to come but many began to make excuse as to why they could not come.

You find in verse 21, affliction or persecution because of the Word caused them to fall away. These people never counted the cost, they did not consider that, to be a Christian it would cost you something.

The common factor or that is the result of the last soil is fruit. Fruit is what all real Christians have in common. Not every Christian produces the same amount of fruit, but their are no fruitless real Christians. All believers bear some fruit. Some bear small fruit, some bear more fruit and some bear much fruit, but all believers bear fruit. This is the distinguishing mark of true believers and the result of the good soil.

" And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.

And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,

Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:

But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

The sower soweth the word.

And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. " Mark 4:1-20

Ever notice in the letters that are addressed to the 7 churches ( book of Revelation ), only 2 had no rebuke at all from our Lord. The letter that was addressed to what many would say was the most dead church has the statement from our Lord " As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent." Revelation 3:19, indicating that our Lord loves them, even as He chastises them. Also, the letter to the church below is especially curious to me as doctrinally they seem to have it all together. They are zealous in labor, patient, enduring, hate sin/false doctrine, discerning and pointing out false teachers. Our Lord even commends them on their work. If this were part of a modern day statement of faith in a church bulletin one might say that it was a pretty solid church. It could even be like any good church today. But there is one flaw that our Lord points out as a fallen state that this church needed to be repent of and then do. The first works, before even anything else. Our first love. It's great for one to have all the i's dotted and t's crossed, but we must remember why we are doing it . 1 Corinthians 13: 1-2 --- (αγαπη (agapē)) , Matthew 22:36-40.

Revelation 2

Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Ephesus: When Love Grows Cold

I hear people sometimes say to me " oh, you can't do that here " or " religion is inappropriate for here or there " etc. It appears to me that non Christians love to become ( experts ) and try to teach Christians how to be Christians with their advice ( ehhem ) . Advice from the void of their empty minds and erroneous assumption, ignorance, without knowledge, all based on their feelings. They feel convicted when the light is turned on, they interpret that discomfort as something to push away.

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. " John 3:19-20
